Tanum in brief In the eastern part of Tanum the countryside is dominated by forests and high crags with lakes, waterways and a fell-like region with swamps and small forest lakes. The area around Kynne Fell is a vast wild region covering some 14 000 hectares (35 000 acres). Along a magnificent valley to the east are the long lakes of Bullaren, surrounded by cultivated land.

Fjällbacka

Fjällbacka is a picturesque village beautifully situated on a strip between rock and sea. It is a very popular summer resort.

The hill Vetteberget dominates the village centre. It is split by a spectacular 200-metre long Ice Age cleft called Ramneklovan, also known as the King’s Cleft. The cleft played a static roll in the Astrid Lindgren movie "Ronja the Robber’s Daughter".
The Fjällbacka archipelago is considered the most beautiful archipelago in Sweden. There are many picturesque buildings on the islands, and inland the flora and fauna are special attraction to the boating fraternity, especially those from further south.
Daytrip boats leave from Fjällbacka. You can take a boat out to the Weather Islands- to sunbathe, swim or just stroll around.

Statue of Ingrid Bergman

Ingrid Bergman’s Square is at the foot of the cliff and features a bust of the well-known actress, who spent many summers on the island of Dannholmen in the Fjällbacka archipelago. Shops, cafés and restaurants are plentiful along the small streets that emanate from the square, along with art galleries and exhibitions.
